A new era for the Crask Inn

It is with much delight and pleasure that we announce a new era in the life of the Crask Inn.

For several years a monthly mission church has celebrated Eucharist, followed by hospitality. It has been a wonderful source of spiritual formation as people have met to explore scripture and seek communion in God with one another.

Mike and Kai Geldard, current owners, have been looking to sell the Crask for a couple of years now but have been led, through their own growth in discipleship and waiting upon God in prayer, to gift the inn to the Diocese.

This is an extraordinary gift and offering to God in his Church. Not only will it allow the mission to continue but the possibilities now exist for the Crask to be a centre of prayer and learning. It will continue to be an open BandB as well, and will be run by Douglas and Denise Campbell. Douglas is Bishop Mark’s PA. Denise is a GP of many years experience. As well as running hospitality side of the Crask, Douglas and Denise will offer the round of Daiky Offices – Morning, Evening and Night Prayer – as part of the daily spiritual life of the Crask and to bind its life with that of the wider church. As Priest in Charge and Mission Priest for East Sutherland and Tain, Fr. Chris will take the lead in looking at a programme of retreat, discipleship, prayer and training days across the course of the year.

Mike and Kai will continue to live in the neighbouring cottage and will work the land. It is a joy that they will continue to be a part of the Inn’s ongoing story. We are extremely grateful to them both for this gift and for all they have done to make the Crask a part of the life not simply of the charges but of the wider diocese.

Please hold all parties in prayer and give thanks for this wonderful and beautiful gift that will be such a core part in the future life of the Auld Kirk of East Sutherland and Tain.

Fr. Chris
